So I had been praying the last week that I could be done with the pregnancy. It was getting so uncomfortable carrying around the huge rock in my belly. I had started feeling random contractions throughout the week and was trying everything to get the baby ready from spicy food, to bouncing on an exercise ball. At my appointment on Wednesday the doctor said I was 4cm and 80%. Yay! He stretched my uterus a little (gross I know) and said he'd give it 72 hours. Which if all went well, would put Parker's birthday on Saturday. I got so excited and anxious and ohmygoshimgonnahaveababy!
By that night the contractions were 20 minutes apart from 11pm to 2am. Then nothing all day. They just disappeared! Thursday night, Matt and I decided to try an old wives tale and go to Olive Garden for some salad and eggplant parmesan followed by a long walk with the dogs. To my excitement they started again on and off... but never progressed.
Early Friday morning from 3am to 7am they were 10 minutes apart which us the closest they'd been! I debated whether or not to even go into work hoping that they would be closer together. Of course I went and literally as soon as I got to work they stopped.
I was so frustrated by the on and off of the contractions that I just gave up trying to make him come. Eeeeveryone kept saying "He'll come when he's ready." And I knew that obviously. But I couldn't go another day with these contractions teasing me. I went home and just relaxed. Cleaned up a bit, did some laundry, and just waited.
That night the contractions started again. I laid on the couch around 6:30pm just counting how far apart they were and hoping that this time was the real deal. After an hour or so I got up and thought I peed my pants. Which I've never done! Embarrassed, I didn't tell Matt and just dealt with it. A little later it happened again! This time I knew it wasn't me. I quick texted my mom to ask if your water could leak. Valid question right?! In the movies it always seems like some frantic event that happens all at once. I told Matt that I thought my water was leaking and before I got a reply from my mom (yes it can leak!) we started getting last minute things together. Luckily I already had my hospital bag and carseat in the car waiting. I grabbed a towel to sit on (just in case) and we headed out to the hospital!
Lookin' super great. Haha!
