Fuuuun

Matt's work had a family event at a bowling alley today! We went last year but Parker was too little to have any fun. I think we took care of that today! He got to bowl for the first time, eat pizza, play arcade games, get his face painted aaand we even let him have a little bit of a sucker!
I'd say it was a pretty awesome day!

Parker's Star Wars bedroom

Finally finished Parker's Star Wars bedroom! It only took a year and a half! I didn't want it to bee babyish or too Star Warsy so I added some hip flare to it with the prints and decals. I made the "Don't Grow Up It's A Trap" print. I think it's kind of funny that it's both a trendy saying plus also partly a nod to Star Wars and also anyone who has seen the Family Guy Star Wars parodies. The three prints are from an Etsy shop called Oips Store . His lamp, Chewy, books and Wampa rug are from Think Geek. The wall decals are Walls Need Love also on Etsy. Finally that awesome quilt was handmade just for Parker from his Aunt JoEllen! I definitely love this room

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL!

We have been sooo busy back in Tucson! Every week have a play date with our friends, and we go to the library, and we take swim lessons, and now we play soccer!

Parkers first soccer practice was this past weekend. It was adorable seeing all the little toddlers kicking soccer balls (well, trying to) and running around. The program is Lil Kickers and they have classes all across the US. It's so great! The class is for little toddlers (starting at 18mo) and parents help the coach. They play games and practice ball skills and do little circuits. I love it!

dr visit

This boy has mommas stubbornness. Oh you know... just threw a tantrum and pulled his elbow out of it's socket. After a couple hours of not using it and a consultation with my parents, I took Parks to the doctor. Luckily it was just Nursemaids elbow and it popped back in. I have a feeling that we'll be frequenting the local Urgent Care with this one.

Ikea hack baby!

Remember that one time a million weeks ago I drove up to Phoenix to go to Ikea and Porter Barn Wood?! Well I totally finally finished my project!!! I used reclaimed tobacco barn wood as a fun table top for a coffee/side table duo!

First we had to sand off the tops of the tables do the wood had something to stick to. Ikea like fricken goes crazy on their tables so it took a super rough paper and power sander to do the trick.

Since I'm prone to accidents... Matt cut the boards for me after I measured them and laid them out how I wanted as the table top.

Next I got to look like Bane from Batman as I sprayed a satin finish on the wood to help with any icky wood or paint chipping. It took 2 cans to do all the wood and didn't discolor it. Just slightly darker I suppose.

Super awesome husband deleted the next pictures I had!!! Buuuut we used wood glue to adhere the boards to the tables and held then down with c clamps for about 30 minutes. We did them individually to make sure they would stay put and not slide around! I looooove them! Totally changes the feel of the living room. <3

Now I need a new rug...

DIY rope vase

I just had these lying around soooo I figured I'd do something fun with them! I always see rope vases at Target and I almost buy them but remember something like that is easy to do. I have way too many glass vases in my pantry and the rope was originally for another project but it didn't work out.
I'm pretty sure I love how it turned out and can't wait to stick some pretty flowers in it!

sighhhh

This morning we went to breakfast at The Coffee Shop. It's delicious. I died and went to heaven.

I've always liked that little area but I've never really taken the time to drive through it and look around. I am now in love! The community of Agritopia is like a little utopia to me. They have a community farm, chickens, trees, grass, parks, little white fences, a Christian school, 2 super awesome restaurants, food truck nights, and gorgeous homes! I wanted to stay there all day!

Eventually Matt and I want to move back to Gilbert but right now isn't a good time. He works for a really amazing company in Tucson and is about to begin his PhD. I actually have made some great friends in the Momtourage and love our home! I know I complain about Tucson because they seriously should open their eyes a little to the fact that they're now a small city. They need things like a new freeway that runs east/west, parks (grass and a splash pad would be nice), master planned communities, a new mall, and better restaurants that aren't just downtown. But I'm really biased and want everything to look like Gilbert. Sooo...

Anyways. It's in our plan to come back and raise our kids near family and all the amazingness that is Gilbert. But for now we'll have to settle for visits.
